NOW AND THEN
A holy battle rages.
As combatants fight for ground,
symbols of the conflict
and its casualities abound.
The principals are Then and Now.
The battlefield is mind.
Those who side with Now can see,
but those with Then are blind.
They're blind because they look at Now
convinced they're seeing Then.
And, not forgiving that which was,
believe they see again
the past, which they cannot behold
because it isn't there.
And so they've lost the battle
being simply unaware
that Then is meant to hide from Now
the world forgiveness knows.
And so, the conflict cannot serve
the purpose they suppose.
Still, the struggle rages on.
Now sounds the battle call.
And Now the battlefield has claimed,
as Then's supporters fall.
But as they stumble, hosts of Now
assist them each to rise.
And lifting them beyond what was,
repair their sightless eyes.
For when the hosts of Now
consider Then, they must forgive
to see the world of Now
where they and Then's supporters live.
