THE EGO-CHRISTIANThe human ego would be a creator, Usurping Spirit's mandate to become the source of man; To recreate its image and its likeness, To govern him according to its plan. Self-deceived, it fabricates surroundings Appropriate to keep this mortal man within its sight, It lauds the wondrous dream it has created, And labels it "The Garden of Delight." The ego-man refers to it as "Eden", A place that suits his aim of giving names to all he sees. A place where he but dreams of independence from God selecting life and death from trees. And in the dream his rib becomes a woman, A scapegoat, blamed for teaching him to be a sinful man. And, sadly, we are taught this foolish nonsense Is representative of Spirit's plan. The ego thinks this man can be a Christian, Imagining that somehow he will be redeemed and saved. Unfortunately, he is pure delusion, The stuff with which the road to hell is paved. The ego claims that he is God's creation. It labels him "mankind" and dreams of heaven as his goal. But every ego dream is an illusion, For ego is the opposite of soul. The egos Christian sees himself as special. He thinks he's more enlightened than his fellow sons of God. He views his neighbor as a sinful mortal A "living soul" predestined for the sod Because of disobedience to Spirit. However, Spirit's likeness does not violate its laws. The egos Christian simply can't distinguish The difference between effect and cause. The ego even calls this "man" a Christian. But "Christian" is a word describing those who follow Christ, Who follow the example of their Master, Followers who will not be enticed Or tempted to be judges of their neighbor. For Jesus counseled his disciples not to judge at all. And why? Because it's simply not their function, They neither have the means nor wherewithal. To judge the motives or the hearts of others Is far beyond the ego-Christian's so-called intellect. And yet, he seems addicted to such judgement, Exhibiting a blatant disrespect For what the Master Christian came to teach us. He likes to claim superiority in Christian works. He disregards the truths that Jesus taught us, While cherishing the ego's shallow perks. They give him such a sense of self-importance. They keep his lack of true humility concealed from sight. They let him count himself among the chosen To satisfy his egos appetite. Home Back Next |
